FOR SEALING SEAMS ON OUTDOOR ROOF DECKS
Sealer for Wood & Concrete Roof Deck Seams
Use this product with some nylon or fiberglass roof mesh to seal all seams and joints before applying the waterproof base coat. This will ensure you don't get any cracks in the rubber base coat as the deck flexes and moves. This is an essential step to make sure your new roof deck stays water tight for many many years.
Sealer for Wood & Concrete Deck Application:
Apply a thin layer of the mastic over the seam with a rectangle mason trowel. Be sure to overlap each side of the seam with mastic in a strip wider than the roof mesh you are using. Then embed the roof mesh into the mastic and work it in with the serrated side of the trowel until the mastic comes up through the mesh. Then apply a second thin coat over the mesh to completely cover it.
We recommend you do this for the edges or any joints and penetrations. Posts should have suitable pitch pockets that you flash to the deck with the mastic and mesh, then fill the pocket void with spray foam and then coat the top of foam with the waterproof base coat. The joint between the wall and your deck should have a cant strip. See a good illustration of cant strip HERE. You can purchase cant strip from Loewes or Home Depot.
Let the mastic fully dry, may take up to 48 Hrs depending on temperature and humidity. Then apply two coats of the waterproof base coat followed by two coats of the ArmorTop Roof Deck Coating.
